In a gilded wooden frame of XVIII th century style with pearl moldings and foliage.

Ferdinand Bassot was born in Besançon on December 29, 1843 and died in Paris on June 17, 1900. Son of watchmaking parents, he was first an apprentice engraver, then an apprentice decorator. After a stay at the School of Fine Arts in Besançon, he entered the School of Fine Arts in Paris, and joined the workshops of Isidore Pils and Louis Matout.
