A beautiful light with pink accents comes to bathe this landscape of edge of pond of Louis Aimé Japy.

Coming from the Japy family, industrial dynasty of the Belfort territory, the painter ignores the family business to devote himself entirely to his vocation, painting. He studied with François-Louis Français and Jean-Baptiste Corot, whom the latter considered to be one of his most gifted students. He started at the Salon in 1864 and exhibited there regularly until 1914. He was awarded the silver medal for the Universal Exhibition of 1889 and 1900; and received the Medal of the Legion of Honor in 1906. He was exhibited at the Galerie George Petit in 1888 for a group exhibition. We owe him many landscapes from Italy and mainly from France, Franche-Comté, Jura and Doubs, Brittany, Picardy, Oise and the Paris region. For this painting, Japy put his easel on the edge of the ponds of Ville-d'Avray, also called "the ponds of Corot" as he liked to frequent and represent them. The landscaper, delicate and sensitive, knew how to transcribe nature with sensitivity and correctness of tone. His touch is simmering, the light, fine and transparent illuminates his paintings. Its palette is clear and refined, the colors are varied and the tones are displayed from green to pink, passing through blue.
