Maurice MOISSET was born in Paris in 1860. He died in 1946. In addition to studying law, he took painting lessons in the workshops of Emile Dameron and Jules Lefebvre. He practiced law until 1890, then devoted himself entirely to painting. He appeared at the Salon of French Artists in Paris from 1888. He received an honorable mention in 1894, a third class medal in 1901 and a second class medal in 1907. With painter friends including Matisse, Jouve and Madeline, he founded in 1901 the "Petite Galerie Drouot" and exhibited at the Galerie Georges Petit. The biography of Maurice Moisset is very rich. He was mayor of a commune in the Oise, he received academic awards and the title of Knight of the Legion of Honor. In 1924, he was appointed official painter of the Navy. Through this landscape located in Favreuil and dated 1916, he succeeds in translating the poetic charm of nature. Maurice Moisset appears in the "Bénézit" as well as in the dictionary of "Little Masters of painting" by Gérald Schurr and Pierre Cabanne.
