Size without frame 73 * 92 cm and with frame 89.5 * 108 cm. Pere Créixams or Creixams, born November 9, 1893 in Barcelona and died in 1965 in the same city, is a Spanish painter and illustrator. A figurative and self-taught painter, his work reflects both the sources of the Paris School and Catalan painting. Throughout his life, he was physically divided between Spain, his native country, and France, the adopted country. Parisian beginnings, birth of a painter, 1917-1929 Créixams arrived in 1917 in Paris, in Montparnasse more precisely when the historical and social context was not favorable, and even more when one was a foreigner. He started with François Bernouard, at La Belle Édition in 1917. Then it was at the Imprimerie Union, engaged as a Phoenician, that the literary, poetic and artistic world opened up to him. The meeting with the writer Florent Fels is decisive. He introduced him to all of intellectual Paris: the poet, art critic and writer André Salmon who nicknamed him Pierre the printer, the Swiss writer Blaise Cendrars, Max Jacob, André Malraux, Raymond Radiguet, André Salmon and the painter Amedeo Modigliani . He meets Marie Lebourg, still called "Madeleine" by Créixams and all their friends. He married her on October 4, 1919 at the town hall of Rouen, city of the bride ....
