Object description :

"Senoufo Statue"
They are effigies of maternity which represent Kaatleyoo, the mythical ancestor or the pestle statues of Poro, the Deblé which sometimes reach monumental dimensions and which, preciously preserved in the enclosure of the Sacred Wood of Poro, the Sinzanga or Sézing, protect insiders who are still vulnerable. The name "Sénoufo" is a Bambara term from Haut-Niger which can be translated as "language of the cultivators". It is an exogenous term to designate all these heterogeneous populations settled in this area and practicing agriculture.
