Shepherdess with ears in molded and carved wood decorated with flowers. covered with a burgundy red velvet (some wear) Stamp of Louis Delanois Chassis in good condition, no buttress (restoration on file) Louis DELANOIS (1731 - 1792) Passed Master on July 27, 1761, he is one of the greatest carpenters in 18th century and stands out as the most inventive of the Transition period. Louis Delanois leaves behind a large number of seats, both Louis XV and Louis XVI style, all of which bear witness to his talent. He works for merchants, for illustrious personalities such as the Count of Artois, the Prince of Condé or the Duke of Chartres, for wealthy collectors but especially for the Comtesse du Barry, who placed many orders with him. Louis Delanois' reputation spread abroad, where he was assured of very promising outlets. Almost all of his orders are meticulously recorded in his Book of Furniture Works and Supplies made on credit. This document testifies to the extent of Delanois' activities but also to the permanent research carried out to design renewed forms and decorations. The Louis XV models, the most numerous, whether of traditional manufacture or of order, reveal the skill and the taste of the manufacturer and his collaborators.
