"Small Regence Commode Stamped Nb For Nicolas Berthelmi, Early 18th Century"
Small Louis XV commode with persistence of the Regency influence, curved on three sides in rosewood marquetry. It opens with three drawers separated by crosspieces, rounded external uprights and rich ornamentation of golden bronzes. It bears a double NB stamp on each of the uprights for Nicolas Berthelmi (or Berthelmy), Parisian cabinetmaker from Faubourg St. Antoine. This signature with only the initials allows to date it around 1730. It is in good condition, no missing, no shock. To note, a little part of one bronze is missing (see picture, third drawer left, upper part of the lock) Beautiful red veined marble probably later. One key that works.
