This wood panel carved in bas-relief and polychromed is a work of South Germany of the XVIth century.
It represents the Last Supper with very fine precision. We see The Lamb Pascal and Christ in the center of the composition surrounded by the 12 apostles, with what is quite rare compared to the age of the object, a face on each of them.
6 apostles are symmetrically distributed around Christ and this effect makes us easily enter this scene. We easily recognize the apostle John asleep against Christ, Judas who holds the purse strings.
Elements of architecture with a balustrade and colonnades give depth and picturesque details such as the candle lit on the table, the ewer and the vases on a shelf and the young servant bringing a dish, bringing life and animation.
It is not common to have such a complete sign. It should be noted of the lacks and worms due to the centuries which do not alter the quality of this panel in good condition for its time.
Nice size, this panel is very decorative: L 53 cm / H 44 cm
