Circa 1800/1820 for mounting Circa 1740/1800 for France Spectacular silks Quilted quilt in patchwork of 18th century French silks. Background in double stitches of hexagons in cream taffeta alternating with other silks, taffetas, satins, damask, brocades, siamese, plows representing a large panel of French production of the second half of the 18th century. Mexican-style striped brocaded satin frame in shades of rust, cream and green. Lining in cream glazed cotton from the same period. Patchworks from France are rare and often very early compared to British and American production. No flaws, clean. Exceptional state of conservation and color for its age.
