Object description :

"Portrait Of English Aristocrat, Follower Of Thomas Lawrence, Early 19th Century."
Very beautiful and large portrait of an English aristocrat, follower of the painter Thomas Lawrence (born April 13, 1769 in Bristol and died January 7, 1830 in London). Sir Thomas Lawrence is a painter who was the most important portrait painter of the English Regency and of the reign of George IV. Lawrence went to London in 1787, where he was received by Reynolds and became a student at the Royal Academy. He was elected member in 1794 and president from 1820 at his death. Our table is to be compared to the many portraits of Lawrence, both by the quality of his execution, the touch removed and the psychology of the character. A piercing and intimate look as well as a very aristocratic haughty look underlines its character. A beautiful empire frame in gilded and carved wood completes the decor. In perfect condition. Private collection, having always belonged to the same family. Dimensions: frame: height: 122 cm, length: 110 cm, canvas: height: 92 cm, length: 80 cm.
