As an artist born in Marseille, Clovis Frédéric Terraire is particularly associated with the Mediterranean landscape of the late 19th century. However, he was an extremely versatile artist and also painted a wonderful collection of pictures on other themes.

This painter born in 1858 in Marseille was a member of Ecole Lyonnaise, member of the Salon des Artistes francais in 1905. He also specializes in cows at pasture and wins the Rosa-Bohneur prize at the Salon in 1927
