"Commode Stamped Escalier Cristal"
Elegant small commode from the XIXth century stamped with a hot iron from the famous house "Escalier de Cristal in Paris" jumping-shaped structure with serpentine and curved line opening by two drawers with key lock, fully covered on all sides of a precious wood marquetry presenting a Transition style decoration in rosewood veneer plated in the crimp of butterfly wings inscribed in frames forming friezes with Greek motif in sycamore and tinted amaranth, the set is supplemented by a beautiful ornamentation in finely chiseled gilt bronze depicting acanthus falls surmounted by heads of fauna, the plateau is bordered by a fretwork mold, the base ends with leafy hooves. Good general condition, dimensions: 73.5 cm high X 60 cm long X 35 cm deep. "Maison Escalier de Cristal": heir to the great merchants-mercers of the 18th century, the Escalier de Cristal created in 1802 was a house Located at the Palais-Royal, Galerie de Valois, famous under the Restoration it was named supplier in 1819 official of the King and of the Crown Furniture Guard, she delivered one of her loyal customers for the Duchess of Berry, exceptional furniture including a dressing table and an armchair which are now kept at the Louvre Museum. Over more than a century of history, the company has won numerous prizes and awards at national and international exhibitions, including bronze medals at the Universal Exhibitions in London in 1862 and in Paris in 1867 and 1878. They received a medal gold at the Universal Exhibition of 1900 in Paris. The large number of objects that remain today in the hands of royal European households, produced by Escalier de Cristal, attests to the success and reputation of the company. Pieces also remain in the collections of the Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay.
