"Virgin Of Pain At The Foot Of The Cross. Follower Of Philippe De Champaigne XVII Century"Virgin of Pain at the Foot of the Cross. Follower De Philippe De Champaigne Very beautiful painting representing an extremely well-known subject by Philippe De Champaigne, produced by a follower in the XVII th century for a castle in Hauts de France. The painting was probably in a set of woodwork in the chapel of this castle. Original canvas with the waxed back to protect it from humidity linked to churches, the canvas frame is also original. Strips on the periphery allow it to be consolidated to allow it to be perfectly joined to the frame. They are not intended to be bands of tension. Dimensions of the work 73 cm high and 55 cm wide The painting has just been fully restored by our restaurateur. The large exceptional oak frame from the XVII century is in very good condition, there are still a few places where we can see that the wooden pegs are missing to probably adapt to the woodwork of this place of worship. Its oval size is 92 cm high by 75 cm wide with a 10 cm molding thickness. The set has just been completely restored (January 2020) by our restaurateur Madame GASNIER, or you can consult her website via this link.
