Description Walking stick Asclepius stick: Doctor's stick finely and plastically sculpted with a stick of Asclepius and a snake wrapping itself around. Pommel stick in the shape of a pistol grip (pommel piston) in ivory around 1900, Germany Very expressive, magnificent work in original condition with a beautiful patina of age. The stick carries a rockery cuff which is also in ivory with the letters (Dr. LL). The abbreviation Dr. = doctor --- is a clue for a doctor's stick! High quality work in 1 A - original condition. Total length: 90 cm In Greek mythology, Asclepius is in the Homeric epic a Thessalian hero and then, in classical times, the Greco-Roman god of medicine.
