"Museum: Ornate Binding From Hamburg, 1782, Psalter"
Astonishing binding, a specialty of Hamburg at the end of the 18th century, which encloses a book of Psalms from the Reformed Church, more than 1500 pages, prayers, gospels according to each day .... the book is complete in good condition, slightly yellowed paper.
The Binding is in glazed calfskin, decorated hot iron, gilt, framing pigmented blue, two watercolored engravings decorate the center of the two plaques, (an arte-povéra from Northern Europe!), Back with nerves , protective silver trim cut and engraved, double silver clasp with biblical characters, gilded and damask edges, decorated with large eyelets, superb paper guard in imitation of silk paperback .
Beautiful condition, very natural surface wear, no flaw.
