About the artist
Jean Deyrolle (1911-1967) is a painter from the New School of Paris. After a figurative decade he arrives at abstraction through a path punctuated by research, travel and encounters. (Charles Estienne, Domella, Magnelli). He completely freed himself from abstraction in 1949 and entered a new period which he qualified as purist.
Jean Deyrolle's pictorial career is based on seamless transitions, with the possible exception of that of Gordes, Gordes, whom he discovered in 1947 and where he settled permanently in 1959. At the same time, he accepted a position as professor at the Munich Academy, a post he held until his death.
His works appear in many museums: Paris, Center Georges Pompidou - Sao Paulo museum of modern art - Oslo, museum of modern art - Aarhus Kunstmuséum - Turin museum Civici ... etc.
