"The Harvest Of The Manna Attributed To The Master Of The Prodigal Son 16 Th"
The harvest of the manna, oil on wooden panel, dimensions 80 cm x 58 cm, with the frame 98 cm x 76 cm, attributed to the Master of the Prodigal Son, Flanders around 1540. The Master of the Prodigal Son is a Flemish mannerist painter, active in Antwerp between 1530 and 1560. It owes its name proposed by Georges Hulin in 1909 to a painting representing the Prodigal Son among the courtesans and kept at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. He is a very personal artist with a very recognizable style. The manna is the providential food fallen from the sky, because distributed by God to feed the Hebrews during their long crossing of the desert. It falls every day except Shabbat, but the day before it falls for two days. It does not keep and should not be stored.
