Object description :

"Clodion (after), Terracotta "
Faunesse sitting on a rocky mound and admiring her two little musical fauns. Clodion (Claude Michel 1738-1814) born in Nancy into a family of artists is under the tutelage of his uncle who assists him in his sculpture workshop. Very quickly, he met success with his small terracotta sculptures representing Greek nymphs, gods and cherubs. Many of his works are in public collections, museums in Paris, Versailles, Rouen .... Our terracotta is a production from the end of the 19th century. Excellent condition, just a tiny little chip at the bottom edge of the terrace, almost invisible. Pretty original patina
