The kilims are mainly found in the Middle East, especially in Iran (particularly in certain provinces: Kurdistan, Kerman, Lorestan, Fars, Sistan and Baluchistan and Golestan), in Turkey, in the Caucasus as well as in Central Asia and was born almost 10,000 years ago as evidenced by many vestiges. The kilim chain is often made of cotton, wool, silk or goat hair as well as the weft.
