Very beautiful Still Life with basket of grapes, basket of peaches and bottle of wine signed around 1850 by Philippe Rousseau. We find in his way of painting peaches the softness of a Chardin. Philippe Rousseau (Paris 1816-Acquigny 1887) was the pupil of Antoine Jean Gros and Jean Victor Bertin. He is one of the little masters of the school of 1830. He was the friend of Beaudelaire. An exhibition was dedicated to him at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam in 1993. He appears in many Museums (Musée du Luxembourg in Paris, Moscow, Amiens, Bagnères, Bordeaux, Caen, Carcassonne, Chartres, Dieppe, La Rochelle, Le Mans, Lille, Louviers, Nantes, Rouen, Valenciennes).
