Curious pair of Lombard mirrors of 38 x 26 cm from the first half of the 18th century, carved walnut, carved and gilded with mercury glass of eighteenth century origin.

The Baroque period is a particularly pleasing style for creating mirrors, as objects with a simple structure: a sculpture rich in relief decorations is the most effective and efficient way to enhance it. This beautiful couple is an eloquent demonstration. The mirror part is also perfectly intact, both are mercury mirrors; indeed, it seems to be the mirror of origin of the mirror as evidenced by the morphology of the spots matured over the centuries of life. The grinding is typically eighteenth century for technique and quality. Particularly striking is the representation of these volutes, so strong, alive, built with a vision of construction really imposing but at once graceful and agile. All glass pieces are healthy. The state of conservation, given the fragility and age of the object, is fantastic.

The Lombard models, still in the forefront of the world, are famous and successful thanks to their lightness and their always rich and imaginative forms, distinguished by the robust sculpture but with a really fine and exuberant line, where the decorative repertoire with the bombastic sculpture and from the strong naturalistic intonation to the imaginative suggestions, it reaches its culminating point with elegance and sobriety capable of creating a fair and elegant blend.
