Large and rare cameo in turquoise representing the goddess Athena, or Minerva for the Romans.
it is a superb glyptic work on turquoise. Indeed cameos of this size in turquoise are not common.
the goddess appears here carved in bust the face slightly turned to the left.
her face proud and haughty finely worked, she wears a laureled helmet adorned with figures of wolves.
his long hair undulates on a breastplate adorned at his center with the Medusa head.
a very nice job of great quality.
a horizontal slit appears on the top two-thirds of the cameo.
Italian work of the second half of the nineteenth century, around 1880.
