Japan, 19th century, large and rare lacquered wooden fan box with an inlaid decoration of mother-of-pearl and brass thread depicting a landscape of pagodas in a lacustrine and floral environment. Brass wire is a very little used material. It brings a great fineness in the rendering of the details and a golden hue present on all the composition. State of use, small gaps, cracks, wear and a hinge to restore but the whole is superb. Length 34.8 cm. Depth 25 cm. Height 16 cm.
