"Igname Mask"
Silngu yam mask, Wosera people, Maprik region, Papua New Guinea. Very fine wicker made of vegetable fibers, topped with natural pigments, ocher brown yellow and red burgundy. Set on the great yams of concour decorated and painted during the harvest festivals, these masks embody the spirit of the ancestor, founding father in the heart of the ritual exchange. Period early twentieth. century. Height of the piece with the base: 37cm
