"Venetian Painter Nineteenth Century, Couple Of Paintings Representative River Landscapes With Figures"Delicious couple of paintings depicting country and river landscapes animated by characters and oxen. In the background a bridge and some cottages, behind which some mountains serve as fifth to the scene.
The canvases are examples of nineteenth-century landscape painting. The painter, stylistically attributable to Venetian zone (Italy), describes in both canvases, a landscape environment along the course of a quiet river. The buildings and the small villages fade away with delicacy, leaving them to be confused with the lush hills behind. In the foreground, the attention is focused on human data with the representation of characters in brightly colored clothing of the time. In the canvas with the bridge, is described a popular festive scene: a lying man plays the flute, while the woman sitting next to it marks the rhythm with a tambourine. In the center, four people are represented dancing while others, sitting apart, give themselves a moment of rest. In the other painting is represented a picnic with people of high rank, in aristocratic clothes. The women and men sit on the lawn, in a friendly attitude, while they are drinking wine and they are about to enjoy a dish on the tablecloth; next to is placed the characteristic wicker basket. In the works, we pay attention to the measured sweeping of the shots and the precise description of the characters, the environments and the details, while the distant mountains are described with brushstrokes impregnated with light and colors, take part of an aesthetic design in harmonious balance with the picturesque venetian 18th Century.
