Object description :

"Pair Of Candlesticks Louis XVI Model Of Felt For The Castle Of Fontainebleau - Gilt Bronze"
Pair of large candlesticks or candlesticks in gilded bronze, late Louis XVI or early Empire period. Our candlesticks are identical to the model attributed to Feuchère and exposed to the castle of Fontainebleau (placed in the topographical cabinet of the Emperor in 1805) and listed in the book by Jean-Pierre Samoyault Pendulums and bronzes d'ameublement entered under the first Empire, number 143. This model stands out for its sobriety and excellent workmanship. Acanthus-leaf frame, row of pearls, fluted with quiver, inverted acanthus leaves. They are composed of 6 independent pieces (sign of the quality of the model), entirely in mercury gilt bronze in matt and shiny (bronze only, no brass parts). Beautiful collector's item ideal for Empire or Louis XVI decor. Very good condition, gilding of slightly attenuated origin but still present, the reamer of a slightly twisted bobbin. Height: 28,5cm diameter 14,5cm Other items available on www.gslr-antiques.com
