Pupil of Nicaise de Keyser in Antwerp, he exhibited in Dunkirk, Ypres, Vienna, Philadelphia and won medals. Knight of the order of Leopold in 1875, he was promoted to officer in 1885. His scenes of cabarets, markets, and inns, are removed with great vivacity and humor
