"Antique Samurai Armor XVII Th Century"We are pleased to present a very rare samurai armor from the famous Iwai Armorer School, bearing the heraldry of the Ishikawa fief, north of Osaka, Japan. We are between two periods, the Sengoku Jidai and the Era Edo period, around 1600, when Japan was going through a great political crisis, divided into numerous small fiefdoms constantly at war.
This particular armor seems to be commanded by a samurai with high and particular financial means, the materials that constitute it are of exceptional quality and carefully forged components.
The 36 plates divided into five parallel blades form the kabuto, iron covered with a brown and natural Asian ostrich skin, ending with a long and thick tree consisting of a tuft of white hairs, as well as the back protector , also called "Yoroi". It is composed of 6 parallel blades and riveted in round by golden nails with stylized flower decoration, and lined with the same brown Ostrich leather. The iron facial mask, called "Mempo", is of the ferocious type "Ressei", with a raised relief on the mouth and cheeks, very impressive, with a typical red lacquer interior. The protection of the throat, called "Tara", consists of six superimposed lamellae, joined by a blue cotton cord.
All components are in any case original and contemporary armor, even the brown lacquer box has its original irons worked and crumpled. Remember that this exceptional armor has been preserved for generations by a family of Tokyo, collectors and fans of tradition and samurai culture. Buying is not easy at all, as collectors or Japanese families refuse to trade and sell abroad. their rare and precious armor, with respect, love, consideration and continuation of their history and tradition, in order to keep alive the interest in the figure of the samurai warrior and the various klan of the shogunate. We thank our consultant on the subject and specialist of Japanese culture for providing us with the information necessary to explain the armor of the collection.
