"Fan, Painting On Silk Paper, Mount Hiramaki-e Flowers & Birds, Japan Meiji 19thc"
Tall sized, for this beautiful fan, hand painted on paper, and mounted with two parts of red wood, lacquered Hiramaki-e lacquer green, red, black and gold, and mounted with a ring hook, probably silver sterling. Mounting of the fan are very well decorated, pattern of climbing plants, and garlands of leaves, and a bird, flying away. The fan is painted on a paper trimmed with a thin layer of silk; on each side; a floral pattern and powdered glitter, and butterflies. Each side has a signature and a stamp .. That I have not identified ... The intermediate slats are bamboo.Japanese working of great finesse, probably dating from the beginning of the Meiji era, circa 1870..or earlier!
Condition: unfortunately not excellent .. Several tears of paper, well mentioned on my detailed pictures .. Mounting in lacquered wood however remains in very good condition ..
