After studying at the Beaux Arts in Madrid, this Spanish painter lives in Paris until 1897. The paintings he exhibited at the Salon from 1875 to 1896 are characteristic of Spanish Impressionism, discreet, luminous, conscious of construction in scenes of elegant and worldly genres.
The charming scene we present, with the parrot pricking seeds at the foot of the Moorish woman is part of the orientalist period of his work. It resumes the precise touch but with great freedom, light caressing and lively and a solid composItion.
On the back, label Goupil Gallery who was his merchant in Paris.
