"Drum Microscope By Nachet, Circa 1865"Interesting and rather early small model of drum microscope signed on the arm "NACHET ET FILS 17, rue Serpente. Paris". We can date this microscope between 1863 and 1872 and more probably about 1865. This microscope is described, but not illustrated, under the number "IX" (page 11) of the catalog Nachet of 1862 and under the number "9" (page 14) from the Nachet catalog of 1863 (in this second catalog the illustration figure 11 does not correspond to the number 9 which it is supposed to represent). The microscope is kept in its original wooden box. It is equipped with a rotating diaphragm and its original mirror. It has preserved an eyepiece number 3 and an objective Nachet of older manufacture, circa 1840-early 1850, number 1. The focus is made by sliding and micrometric focusing by a screw located under the pillar. The microscope retains most of its original varnish and is in good working condition and use. It measures approximately 30 cm in height and the box 26x15x10,5 cm.
