Object description :

"Tunisia Ceramic Workshop Pierre De Verclos"
Atelier Verclos, Tunisia. Vase with large handles, in polychrome faience, decorated with four large floral medallions belted ribbons. Almond motifs on the handles. Signed "Verclos pottery old Nabeul" at the bottom of the body: "Verlock, Kallal el Kedim, Nabeul". "Verlock, Qallāl el-Qadīm, Nabeul". Pierre de Verclos, 1886 1950 moved to Tunisia around 1921-1922 and decided to create a ceramics workshop in Nabeul where there is a very old tradition in the art of pottery. His workshop, which he calls "la Fabrique", is gaining momentum. It diffuses what was called at the time the "artistic pottery". Pottery decorated with colorful patterns drawn from the Tunisian heritage: that of ceramics of the 18th century. We recognize the Verlock touch in the slight fusion of color, controlled to give a particular vibration. ------------------------ Perfect condition, height 26.5 cm - diameter of the belly 18.5 cm - neck diameter: 9 cm.
