"Great Engraving 18th "
Great original 18th century engraving, the entrance to the port of Marseille "Vue de la Montagne", engraved by Cochin and Lebas, famous engraver under Louis XV. This engraving is part of the ports of France painted by Joseph Vernet at the request of Louis XV. Of the 24 requests of the King only 15 will be carried out from 1753 to 1755 (Marseilles Bandol Toulon Antibes Bayonne Sète Bordeaux La Rochelle Rochefort and Dieppe). Some ports are represented multiple times. Vernet was asked to represent in the foreground, activities specific to the region.
