"Pendulum With Harlequin"
Empire clock in gilt bronze representing the Harlequin, after the play "comedia Del Arte". This model is one of the first models, quite rare because it has the octagonal dial and the large base. The Harlequin will become one of the most appreciated characters in the theater during the 18th century in France. Of exceptional quality and remarkable finesse attributed to Pierre-Philippe Thomire. Note the original balance is in the form of a libellule. The octagonal case, modeled like a vaulted top wall clock with a bird, weights and simulated chains. The Harlequin wearing a typical diamond patchwork costume, a sword at his waist and his carnival mask, thick hair and a thick mustache.
