"Portrait Of Anne-marie Martinozzi, Princess Of Conti, Seventeenth Century"
Portrait of Anne-Marie MARTINOZZI, Princess of Conti, born in 1637 and died in Paris on February 4, 1672. She is the daughter of the Italian Count Geronimo MARTINOZZI and Laura Margherita Mazzarini, sister of Cardinal Mazarin. She married at the age of 17, Armand de Bourbon-Conti, Prince of Conti, who was 25 years old. The latter after being one of the leaders of the Fronde, had made his submission to Louis XIV the previous year. A few months after his marriage, the prince leaves his young wife in Paris to take command of the expedition of Catalonia. The princess is tenderly fond of her husband but will see him very soon, the latter being in combat especially in Spain. They will have two children, Louis-Armand de Bourbon-Conti and François-Louis de Bourbon-Conti. She became a widow in 1666 and died of an apopléxie attack on February 4, 1672. She was buried in the church of Saint-André-des-Arts, where her sons built a tomb by François Girardon. DI (H x W): 160 cm x 122 cm frame included. Rentoilée
