"Jean-françois-théodore Gechter Sculpture Battle Scene"After Jean-François-Théodore GECHTER (1796-1844) Important group, cast iron sculpture, finely chiseled and patinated, titled "Sir de la Tremouille 1514" this French sculptor signed a bas-relief "The Battle of Austerlitz "adorning the Arc de Triomphe at Place de l'Etoile. Gechter, a student of François Joseph Bosio and Baron Gros, is the author of numerous equestrian groups of kings, gladiators, knights, Indians or ancient figures, some of which will appear at the Salon between 1824 and 1844. We particularly admired the modeling of his horses. Gechter sold his models to publishing houses such as Denière, Nicolas-Germain Charpentier, Galle and Debraux d'Anglure. In 1991, the Louvre museum acquired a fireplace mantel "Combat by Charles Martel and Abdérame", published by Charpentier.
