"Trianon / Compiègne, Bergère, Empire Period"
Beautiful beechwood bergère painted white and grey, with a straight and square backrest, armrests' consoles in detached balusters, standing on turned and ringed front legs, the back legs in saber.Several marks and number of inventory allow us to trace its course: the mark GT followed by an inventory number corresponding to the Castle of the Grand Trianon affixed under the 1st Empire. The crowned CP in a circle mark corresponds to the furniture of the Palais de Compiègne also under the 1st Empire. Finally, the last mark, a T followed by an inventory number corresponds to the Petit Trianon Castle affixed under Napoleon III (inventory of 1855).
Trace of label on the back belt (unreadable).
A similar model of bergère is now on display in the Premier Salon of the Prince Double apartment at the Château de Compiègne.
