"A Louis XV Style Writting Desk."Important marquetry writting desk opening with three drawers and standing on cabriole legs. Chiselled gilt bronze rockery, leaves, flowers and palmette ornamentation. The top is lined with red leather with gilt decoration.
Stamped G. Durand. Gervais-Maximilien-Eugène Durand (born in 1839) was specialized in 18th century replica furniture. He had his workshop at 12 rue de la Cerisaie from 1870, at 23 rue Beautreillis in 1878, and about 1900 at 62 rue Saint-Antoine. Since the company was called Durand et fils. G. Durand participated in the Universal Exhibition in 1889 and obtained a silver medal.
