Pair of Napoleon III coloured lithographs depicting: Saint Louis, or Louis IX praying, in the background the spire of the Holy Chapel which he built from 1241 to 1248 to house the Holy Crown of thorns. St Isabella of France, younger sister of Saint Louis, supporting the church of the monastery of the Clarisses of Longchamps, which she founded in 1255 and completed in 1259. Colour representation of three-quarters to body on a matte black background.By Gangel at Metz, printing publisher in operation between 1852 and 1858.Dimensions: on view: 28.50 cm x 21.50 cm.gilded wood frame: 46 cm x 32.50 cm. Good general condition, some lack of black pigments on the background (see the last photo).
