Beautiful and great work of the painter Avignon Joseph Hurard who represents a view of the village of Saint-Tropez (Var) from the path of the citadel.
The artist was able to recreate the sunny atmosphere of a summer day by using bright colors and playing on contrasts.
Pupil of Pierre Grivolas and Charles Vionnet in Avignon, Joseph Hurard exhibited at the Salon des Independants from 1908 to 1914 many landscapes including Avignon and Villeneuve-les-Avignon. He joins the Groupe des Treize founded by Clément Brun.
After World War I, he exhibited in galleries in Marseille.
In 1932 he settled in Martigues. site he has painted since 1913.
Size : 60.5 x 100.5 cm without its frame and 70 x 114.5 cm with its modern wooden frame.
