Pair of large candlesticks or candlesticks in gilt bronze with mercury and weathered pronze, Empire period around 1806-1807, by Claude Galle. He notably makes deliveries for the castles of Trianons, Fontainebleau, Saint-Cloud, Compiègne and the palace of Tuileries. Rich palmette decor on the base, the was cut with clawed feet resting on a ball, the top adorned with busts of women with antique out draperies, bobettes in the shape of vase palmettes. This model is distinguished by their excellent quality of execution and their very large format (32.5cm in height). They are composed of 15 independent pieces (sign of the quality of the model), entirely in mercury gilt bronze in matt and brilliant (bronze only, no brass parts) and patinated bronze in brown.
