"Embroidery, 17th Century: The Holy Happy Family"
Religious embroidery very soft, with old silk stitches on linen, featuring the happy Holy family in a wooded landscape with bright distant. The affection is read in the attitude of the characters. Two small, still-life nature: a basket of beautiful fruits and a blooming flower, with thrown dots and braided silver threads enrich the picture.
French embroidery, perhaps Convent work, seventeenth century. In a recent frame of style, embroidery stretched on wood.
Dimensions: Overall: 45 x 37cm, embroidery: 33 x 25cm.
Condition: quite good, with obviously wear, light spots and a little sunshine. From a beautiful old house in Provence.
