"Victor Prouvé"Biography Victor Prouvé was born in 1858 in Nancy and died in 1943 in Setif, Algeria. He is a French painter, sculptor and engraver, member of the Ecole de Nancy. The young Victor Prouvé designs sets of glassware and furniture for Emile Gallé. He works for the brothers Daum and Albert Heymann. In 1888, he discovered Tunisia, which influences the light of his paintings. Member since its creation in 1901, it becomes the second president of the School of Nancy to the death of Emile Gallé, in 1904. From 1919 to 1940, it takes the direction of the School of Fine Arts of Nancy. It is the father of Jean Prouvé (April 8, 1901, Paris-March 23, 1984, Nancy) who will become Architect.
