Etienne Robert: "provencal Landscape With Donkey" flag

Object description :

"Etienne Robert: "provencal Landscape With Donkey""
OUH! LALA !!
It took a lot of research to make his true identity to this artist! Fortunately for me, Mr. Gilles Chambon has developed a very interesting blog where Internet users have come to make their contribution to the building: it is in fact Etienne Robert (1875-1959), that the auctioneers baptize Emile under whose name it is found in the databases, when it is not under its namesake sculptor s!
Born in Switzerland, which explains why one often finds there works, he settles in Marseilles from where he radiated all over Provence and the Côte d'Azur to seek these landscapes flooded with light which are his specialty .
The painting presented here shows a donkey going up a path, probably coming back from the market, following the wall of one of those immense properties found in the South-East, surrounded by stone walls. In the distance, there is a village on a hill.
Oil on canvas 54 X 65 cm, mounted in a beautiful gilt frame modern marie-louise 70 X 80 cm.
The upper right quadrant was reattached to close up cracks to make them less visible.
