Object description :

"Indian Folder Vizagapatam"
VIZAGAPATAM indian writing board made of deer antler. Delicate marquetry in deer antler, opens in two parts, inside with velvet, decorated with incrustations on the edges. The port of Vizagapatam, located on the east coast of India, was famous for the know-how of its craftsmen from the end of the 18th century, and particularly for ivory incrustations and markings. The objects and furniture produced in this region were often decorated with Western motifs. They were very popular, particularly in England, thanks to the repetitive purchases of Indian East India Company leaders, created by Queen Elizabeth I of England.
