"G. MuÑoz : "a Mousquetaire""I love this kind of challenge: when I'm told "it's signed, but illegible", I feel like a dog sniffing a track when the hunt is open !
But what I like more is to find; what a triumph then for my little ego. In this case, these almost parallel features and what seemed like accents gave me some thoughts, but I ended up identifying "Muñoz". But as it is said that there is more than one donkey at the fair called Martin, in the Spanish painters, there is more than one Muñoz !
With perhaps the initial "G" for the first name, but here I am not sure.
The fact is that the touch is characteristic of these Iberian artists who went to rub shoulders with their Italian colleagues, especially Rome and Naples, both very precise and nevertheless vibrant, almost "mossy", the gouache coming to raise in relief the volumes given by watercolor. Around 1880, watercolor gouache 25 X 17 cm to the sight, mounted under Marie-louise gilded 35 X 27 cm.
