Oil on canvas Molded wood frame, gilded and black Total dimensions: 96 x 96 cm Executed by a Flemish artist around 1650, influenced by the work of Jordaens, this very interesting table with the unusual square format, takes a famous biblical episode : The sacrifice of Isaac. God orders Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac on Mount Moria. According to the biblical account, an angel sent from God, stops Abraham in his gesture, and this one sacrifices in his place a ram, whose horns were taken in a bush. This subject inspired many ancient masters mainly in the seventeenth century. Very beautiful state. Sold with invoice & certificate
