Chrysanthemum Vase Opalescent André Hunebelle France 1927-1931 Art Deco

Hunebelle Vase model Chrysanthemum, rare opalescent model, hunched shape, thick glass of a remarkable opalescence, with interwoven alternations of polished and satin effects. The decor arranged on 3 floors of petals of a chrysanthemum flower button, rises from the base to join the neck that this copy still has. Contrary to what one might think at first glance, the decor of this vase is not completely symmetrical. Indeed, the intermediate stage of the decoration is decorated with 3 series of 3 points rising towards the neck. These 3 series of points are separated by 2 series of 2 hollow without tip, then of a series of 1 single hollow without tip. A use of the asymmetry already observed in the Master Glassmaker to give his works a unique movement to capture the light.

A note on a thickness of 2 mm of glass inside the vase André Hunebelle (1896-1985), named "the poet of light" for his works, is a master glassmaker and French director. Between 1927 and 1931, he publishes his glassworks which he diffuses by opening a shop at the roundabout of the Champs-Elysées in Paris. His models of vases, bowls and pressed molded lights, with geometric patterns, atypical were executed at the Choisy-le-Roi crystal factory.
