Object description :

"Rare Suite From Huite Caned Chairs Louis XV Period, Transition Period."
Rare suite of eight cane chairs in natural wood molded, carved and lacquered Louis XV period of the transition period. Eight Chairs model, with beautiful harmonious proportions, the violin cabriolet back is adorned with deep and wide moldings. The racquet seat wide as generous as hospital headdress a belt molded; cubic dice decorated with florets unify belt crossbars and base. The whole is based on a pedestal neo-classicism nascent; consisting of four tapered fluted feet, strangled in their summits pinched at their bases; the right anterior, the deviant posterior in order to accentuate the equilibrium of the seat. A powerful game of vigorous and deep molding moves the entire woodwork. The ornamental pattern, a bouquet of fine florets and foliage centers the belt as well as the top of the file. On their backs, we can see the bands that serve to close the wood once the cane is laid. Balance, nervousness, elegance and quality are the most appropriate terms for this beautiful series of eight chairs. It should be noted the great care given to the connecting elements of an irreproachable quality. The transition style, this new artistic taste emerges around the years 1750 - 1760; a period when the discoveries of Herculaneum and Pompeii strongly influenced the stylistic characters of the second half of the reign of Louis XV. These chairs are in perfect condition without graft or finger, the bottoms of canes are original and in excellent condition. Alas we only have five of the eight old cakes.
