Small netsuke * katabori ivory finely carved, signed Tomokazu, representing a character, an old man or sage sitting cross-legged, from Japan, Edo period nineteenth century. This netsuke is in good general condition, in its own juice. Signed below. A note: missing an arm and a foot, a small piece in the bottom was glued, wear time, see photos. Specimen in worked ivory, prior to 1 July 1947 and therefore in accordance with Regulation EC 338/97 of 09/12/1996 art.2-Wmc. * The Netsuke: The Netsuke is a traditional Japanese clothing used to maintain the sagemono (literally "hanging objects"). Indeed, the kimono having no pocket, the various everyday objects are transported in a sort of small boxes called sagemono. These objects are suspended at the obi of their owner by a cord.
